Helping you plan with confidence for your future
As a family-run firm established in 1978, we provide independent financial planning for individuals and families looking for clarity around their future.
What we actually do
Many people come to us unsure what financial planning involves, or how it differs from simply managing money.
At its core, financial planning is about helping you make informed decisions about your money, both now and in the future.
We work with you to understand your full financial picture - your income, assets, pensions and goals - and bring this together into a clear, structured plan.
This might include understanding when you can afford to retire, making sure your investments and pensions are aligned with your plans
or helping you make important decisions following a significant life event such as an inheritance or business sale.
Our role is to provide clarity and ongoing guidance, so you can make confident financial decisions at each stage of life.
Trusted by our clients to provide clear, ongoing financial advice
Our Story
In 1978, John Hitchell had just taken the difficult decision to leave a secure job with a high street bank and was looking for the next challenge. He hated the corporate, target-driven culture of the banking industry and felt there must be a better way to treat clients.
It was fair to say the bank was very traditional, even insisting that John shave off his beloved beard as ‘it was scaring the older customers.’ However, the final straw was having found his dream home, his mortgage application being denied because it ‘had more bedrooms than he needed,’ only to discover that his manager had bought the house instead.
Who we typically work with
We typically work with individuals and families who value clear, ongoing financial planning rather than one-off advice.
Many of our clients are:
– Approaching retirement and looking for clarity on when they can afford to retire
– Business owners or professionals building wealth and making long-term decisions
– Retired clients looking to maintain their lifestyle and support their family
– Individuals who have experienced a significant life event such as an inheritance or business sale
While every situation is different, our focus is on working with clients where we can provide ongoing advice and add meaningful long-term value.
